Harvard WorldMUN 2021

Registration Opens for Harvard WorldMUN 2021

Dear WorldMUN Delegates,

We, the secretariat of Harvard World Model United Nations, are writing to let you know that you can now apply to join the 29th Session of Harvard World Model United Nations, from February 26th to March 1st of 2021. We are so excited to officially open registration. We can’t wait to see your applications!

Harvard WorldMUN is one of the largest, most diverse Model UN conferences in the world. Since its inception, the conference has taken place in a new city every year. This year, we will again host our conference in a new venue: Zoom. While running WorldMUN online will be a new experience for all of us, this new format also presents many new and exciting opportunities for the conference. In particular, we have lowered the conference fees this year to reflect the fact that we will be operating virtually, which we hope will allow delegates from around the globe to participate while maintaining our standards of substantive excellence.

If you have any questions about the registration process, please let us know because we really look forward to reading your applications and seeing you at the online conference in the Spring! Please read the rest of this email in its entirety, as it contains extremely important information about the 2021 conference.

For this year and this year only, WorldMUN will also be open to high school students! If you apply and are accepted as a high school student, you will be assigned to a high school ONLY committee, where you will have the unique opportunity to engage with delegates from across the globe. Similarly, if you are a university student, you will be placed in a university only committee. Both high school and university students can register on the MyMUN platform.Although this year’s conference will look slightly different due to the constraints of the current global pandemic, we, as always, are striving to ensure that WorldMUN lives up to its title of “The Olympics of Model UN.” Among other unique features, this year’s conference will include a panel of esteemed speakers to discuss the global response to the ongoing pandemic.

Information on registration New Delegates: You can register here on MyMUN (https://mymun.com/muns/worldmun-2021). From this page you will be able to access the WorldMUN application. The application consists of a few questions about your interest in WorldMUN. Once you’ve been accepted and you have paid your fees, you will be given a country assignment. Many of the most popular countries will be assigned after the priority I deadline on January 15th, so we strongly urge you to apply as soon as you can.

Delegates already registered for WorldMUN 2021:All delegations and delegates who are registered and have paid for WorldMUN 2021 will receive a credit for the amount paid in excess of the current delegate fee which will be applied towards WorldMUN 2022. For example, given the new lowered delegate fees, an individual delegate who has paid $150 to attend WorldMUN 2020 and attends WorldMUN 2021 will have $75 of their rolled-over credit applied towards the WorldMUN 2021 delegate fee. The remaining $75 will be credited towards WorldMUN 2022. We understand that for some delegates, attending WorldMUN 2022 may be difficult or impossible. More information on the refund request policy is listed below.

Refund Request PolicyRefund requests for the 2020 conference will be processed on a case-by-case basis. This applies both to delegates that wish to attend WorldMUN 2021 but cannot rollover their credits to WorldMUN 2022 and to delegates who are registered for WorldMUN 2021 but do not wish to attend the virtual iteration of the conference. In order to request a refund, please fill out the following form no later than January 15th, 2021: https://forms.gle/8YHmEVqB9jMt1AKN9.

  1. Prioritized Delegates: The following delegates will receive priority with regard to their refund requests: (1) Delegates who will be graduating before WorldMUN 2022; and (2) Delegates on financial aid for whom this postponement has posed a significant financial burden.
  1. Delegation Fee: We will be crediting such delegation fees towards next year’s event. Please note that we will be unable to provide a refund for delegation fees.
  1. Request Deadline: Please send all refund queries to refunds@worldmun.org on or before January 15th, 2021.
